Crafting a brand identity and Shopify e-Commerce website for a unique artist owned online retailer.
Create. Collaborate. Motivate. This is the motto of CMMNTY, an artist owned business concept who retail unique, limited edition art work and apparel. What makes CMMNTY so unique, is that for each product sold they give a percentage of profits to homeless charities and those less fortunate.
With nothing but a company name, we worked closely with CMMNTY to create their entire brand, supporting assets as well as a dynamic and immersive online retail experience. As a start-up business, it's crucial we understand the people involved in the brand to decipher their values, tastes, desires and ambitions, it was immediately apparent to us how dedicated and driven they were about their business and the impact that success could mean in the community as a whole. Regardless of the deliverable, whether it was the logo, business cards or the website itself, we knew we had to reflect that passion and creativity they possesed with design-led concepts throughout everything we created for the brand.
A beautiful, clean, typography-focused responsive website
Further to creating a set of brand assets, we were also commissioned to design and build their e-commerce website. It was essential that their store was engaging, unique and promoted not only the products on offer but the artists involved also. We knew that social media would play a large role in the marketing of the brand so making sure the site was incredibly easy to use across all devices was crucial given the likelihood of high mobile and tablet traffic upon launch.
After extensive R&D it was our design team's responsibility to create an elegant digital representation of the brand in the form of a Shopify e-commerce store. Our remit was to keep things clean and minimal, from the visual appearance through to a customer purchase route, this made us the perfect agency for this project. By implementing our fundamental principles of design we created an engaging and highly performant shopping experience. We created a dynamic grid system to generate clear and concise page layouts paired with classic typography resulting in a flexible online store that has seen great engagement across mobile and desktop devices during its early months.
Empowering micro interactions to increase engagement across all devices
Given that the design of the website was modern and minimal in appearance, our development team created a more immersive experience with the addition of beautiful micro interactions. These little interactions provide feedback to users as they browse and engage with the website, hovering over a link or adding an item to the basket for example. It's these little design details that really change the way a website "feels" to a customer and can really empower a brand online.
It was also our development team's attention to detail that ensured the store worked intuitively across both tablets and smartphones, utilising the latest web technologies to aid mobile conversion.
