Although it’s usage is nothing new, vertical lines showing the grid of the site is certainly a hit at present, and on some really nice websites, too. They’re a great visual cue for laying out content and provide an anchor for the eye making it easier to digest content and be led on a particular path. They add balance to minimalistic design and show that some more abstract grids are based on logic and aren’t just randomly placed shapes on the page.
